We've been busy filling this page with early deals ahead of our top recommendations on the day, regardless of the retailer, so don't hesitate to bookmark and check in regularly for more updates. In the meantime, you can check out everything you need to know about Prime Day camera deals just down below.

Today's best camera deals ahead of Prime Day - US

GoPro Hero 11 Black $299$249 at Amazon

GoPro Hero 11 Black was $299 now $249 at Amazon
Given the similarities between the GoPro Hero 11 Black and its successor, the Hero 12 Black, it's safe to say that the former action camera remains among the very best action cameras money can buy in 2024 – and it's available for a record-low price at Amazon – just $249. The Hero 11 Black builds on the Hero 10 Black's already impressive foundations with a square 1/1.9in sensor (making it ideal for vertical videos), a HyperView digital lens, and a longer-lasting Enduro battery.

GoPro Hero 12 Black:$399.99$299.99 at Amazon

GoPro Hero 12 Black: was $399.99 now $299.99 at Amazon
It's a double whammy of GoPro deals, as the leading action cam maker has also slashed the price of its latest flagship model, the Hero 12 Black. The incremental update of the Hero 11 Black has a few pro-focused improvements such as dual channel audio, but most the headlines are the same: 5.3K at 60 fps for twice as long as the Hero 11 Black (about 70 minutes), and up to 240 fps at 2K. Its HyperSmooth AutoBoost technology enables award-winning stability while participating in rigorous activities like skiing, skating, and biking. This offer at Amazon drops the action camera we gave 4.5 stars out of five in our GoPro Hero 12 Black review to a record-low price.

OM System OM-5$1,199$999 at Amazon

OM System OM-5 was $1,199 now $999 at Amazon
Our favorite travel camera has dropped below $1,000 ahead of Prime Day – that's a $200 saving. It's a real outdoors camera: robust and lightweight, while boasting superb image stabilization so you can comfortably use it handheld on the go. The 20.4MP sensor can produce sharp stills, especially if you pair the OM-5 with one of a number of excellent lenses available in the micro four thirds system, while 4K / 30fps video is decent, though we say this is primarily a camera for photographers who can also make use of advanced computational photography modes such as Live ND. We've included this deal, which you can also pick up at Adorama, because it's the lowest prices we've ever seen for one of our favorite on-the-go cameras that's barely two years old.

Miofive S1 dash cam30% off

Miofive S1 dash cam: up to 30% off
We rank the Miofive S1 as one of the best dash cams for a double-digit price, and it's now available in a variety of bundles at Amazon to make it unbeatable value – a 30% voucher code from the $95.99 price being the pick of the bunch. The tiny dash cam boasts crisp 4K video in day at night, built-in GPS and speedy video transfer with 5GHz Wi-Fi. Sadly vidfeo frame rates are limited to 30fps whatever resolution you shoot at, but for the money you'll struggle to find a better or more reliable dash cam. Other options include a 128GB MicroSD and card reader bundle for $99.98 at Amazon.

DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo$719$559 at Amazon

DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo: was $719 now $559 at Amazon
Alongside the amazing DJI Mini 3 drone, this combo also comes with the highly-rated DJI RC, a remote controller that delivers an exceptional operating experience for DJI drones. It has a lightweight body, FHD display, and an impressive battery life. Controlling the drone is a breeze thanks to the dual-spring control sticks. The deal also includes 3 batteries for a total of 114 minutes of flight time. DJI drones might well be facing a US ban, but nothing is for certain just yet and for now the Mini 3 remains available to buy. Don't need the extra batteries? You can also pick up the regular RC bundle for just $429 at Amazon.

Canon EOS R5: $3,899now $2,999 at Amazon

Canon EOS R5: was $3,899 now $2,999 at Amazon
Canon's best-ever camera for photography is now available for just $2,999 at Amazon – the same price as Adorama, It's now $900 cheaper than at launch, though we have seen the EOS R5 for $2,899 during Memorial Day, so it could be worth waiting on this deal to see if it improves. Still, for less than $3,000 you get a full-frame sensor with 45MP still pictures, superb autofocus, and one of the best in-body image stabilization performances. It's an all-round pleasure to shoot with. It's also apt for video, being one of the first hybrid cameras to unleash 8K video, while its 4K video (which has frame rates up 120p) is excellent, too.

Now is a great time to consider making the switch since this excellent flagship is currently sitting at its lowest ever price at Amazon UK.

Amazon Prime Day camera deals: FAQ

When will Prime Day camera deals be available?

Amazon has officially confirmed that Prime Day 2024 will take place on July 16th and 17th - the dates that we were expecting here at TechRadar. The summer Prime Day event usually takes place in the second or third week of July and always on a Tuesday and Wednesday so it's usually pretty easy to narrow down the possible dates.

As a quick overview, Prime Day camera deals usually go live on the midnight of Monday/Tuesday but we don't recommend staying up late unless you're really keen to check out what's on offer. Prime Day deals don't usually sell out unless they're really popular and most run throughout the two-day period. It's likely we'll see a second batch of deals on the second day, too, so it's usually fine to take your time. In recent years Amazon has also hosted a second Prime Day mid-October, so that can be a great option if you happen to miss the first one in July (the deals are usually different, however).

Do you need Amazon Prime to get these deals?

For 'official' Amazon Prime Day deals you will need to be an active subscriber to get the discount. However, there are a few categories - cameras included - that tend to get good deals outside of the official Prime Day sale, which don't need an active Prime subscription. In short, there are thousands on competitive discounts across Amazon over Prime Day, some of which are officially billed as Prime deals (and need an account) and some of which are simply just great deals.

It's too early to predict how many camera deals will need an Amazon Prime account yet but we assume some might. If you want to be safe, a good option is to simply sign up for the 30-day Amazon Prime Day free trial as that will automatically entitle you to all deals over Prime Day and bag you free delivery to boot.

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial
If you've never signed up before you can get a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime to get access to this year's Prime Day deals. You get the same benefits as paid members, including free delivery, and access to other services such as Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Gaming and more. You can cancel at any time during the trial to avoid paying the regular fee, which is $14.99 / £8.99 per month.

What kind of cameras go on sale on Prime Day and are the deals actually good?

Sony A7 III

We usually see a good selection of the big brands on sale over Prime Day - Canon, Sony, Nikon, GoPro, DJI, Panasonic, and OM System to name just a few. Generally speaking, there are good options across the gamut, although deals on Fujifilm cameras are rare due to the brand's high popularity right now.

In terms of quality, we'd say Amazon Prime Day camera deals can run from fairly good to forgettable. Generally speaking, the retailer loves to discount old stock for Prime Day, which can yield both great deals and forgettable options that are definitely worth skipping over. Overall, however, we usually manage to find a few diamonds in the Prime Day sales and we're expecting to do so again this year.

If you're interested, you can check out a roundup of last year's Prime Day camera deals just down below. Bear in mind that some of these models are now discontinued and we're expecting plenty of price cuts on newer models.
