When is Amazon Prime Day in 2024?

Amazon has officially announced that Prime Day will take place on July 16 – 17 in 2024. The sale starts at midnight on Tuesday and runs for two days through to 23:59 on Wednesday.

Offers will go live as soon as the first day starts and remain mostly the same throughout the 48-hour sale period. Some lightning deals may pop up, too, but we expect the majority of price cuts to run throughout the sale until they sell out.

What kind of Prime Day soundbar deals can I expect?

There tend to be a good number of soundbar deals on Prime Day. These are to work alongside the best Prime Day TV deals on offer, so you can fully upgrade your home theater setup and save some money doing it. We're expecting a lot of brands to discount on the run up to and on the day itself, including Samsung, Sony, Sonos, Bose, Hisense, LG and more.

With Amazon introducing its own soundbar, the Amazon Fire TV soundbar, there's likely to be some discounts on it and despite it's price already being low ($119.99), expect it to drop even further.

We expect to see deals on some Samsung soundbars, mainly from its 2023 lineup, such as the Samsung HW-Q800C, Samsung HW-Q700C and Samsung HW-Q990C - all of which were among the best Dolby Atmos soundbars on the market in 2023. We could see discounts on its 2024 range, such as the Samsung HW-Q990D, but these aren't likely to be as significant.

Other major brands such as Sonos and Bose will likely offer deals as well. The Sonos Arc and Sonos Beam (Gen 2) primarily get discounted during these big sales events, so keep your eyes peeled. The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is another solid mid-range Dolby Atmos soundbar that we're hoping to see some savings on.

It's worth noting that Amazon won't be the only company offering sales during July. Expect other retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart in the US and Currys and John Lewis in the UK to offer their own soundbar deals as well. We'll be sure to update this page with the best soundbar deals we can find.

Do you need Amazon Prime to get these deals?

Pretty much, yep. The thing about Prime Day is that Amazon would really like you to go ahead and subscribe to Amazon Prime, so it keeps all the best deals for Prime members only. The good news is that you can get a free trial of Prime to access the deals, and then you can cancel it to avoid being charged – if you want.

And, we have to note, that there are often deals available on Prime Day that aren't just for Prime members – they're usually 'unofficial' deals from companies just jumping on the price-cutting bandwagon, and won't be the real blockbuster deals, but they're around.

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial

Samsung HW-Q700B: was $697.99 now $367.99 at Amazon
We rate this as the best soundbar for most people. We gave it five stars in our Samsung HW-Q700B review, saying "The HW-Q700B punches well above its weight when it comes to performance and functionality, particularly if you can pick one up for less than list price". And guess what – this is the lowest price it's ever been! With real upfiring drivers for Dolby Atmos height effects and a great subwoofer, this is a fantastic value.

Image

Bose Smart Soundbar 300: was $449 now $294 at Amazon
With five drivers, this packs a lot of sound into a small bar – and rather than focusing on 'virtual' Dolby Atmos or other tricks, they're all just focused on delivering clarity and a wider soundstage. It connects to your TV over HDMI or optical, and there's Bluetooth for listening to music. We haven't tested this bar, but we gave its big brother five stars in our Bose Smart Soundbar 600 review, so we think this is likely to be a great TV audio upgrade for the price. This is the cheapest it's ever been, too.

LG S80QY 3.1.3-channel soundbar: was $899.99 now $446.99 at Amazon
Amazon has some great Prime Day deals going on LG’s Dolby Atmos soundbars, but the one that caught our eye is this 50% discount on the S80QY, a 3.1.3-channel model from 2022. When we reviewed the S80QY, we found it to have a solid set of features for the cost, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X processing plus an upfiring center channel speaker that helped elevate dialogue to screen level. It sounded good for the money then, and at this price it’s an amazing deal.

Image

Sony HT-A5000: was $999 now $698 at Amazon
A competitor to the Sonos Arc, this soundbar packs Dolby Atmos sound from real upfiring and side-firing speakers, with Sony's excellent processing tech helping to make sure it gives strong positional sound from a single bar. With no subwoofer, it's designed be as simple and big-sounding as possible. One of the best features here is HDMI 2.1, including passthrough for 4K 120Hz signals, making this Sony ideal for gaming.

Image

Yamaha SR-B20A: was $199.95 now $149.95 at Amazon
Looking for a small, simple and great home theater upgrade? Yamaha makes excellent soundbars, and we rated this one highly in our Yamaha SR-B20A review for delivering clearer, fuller, more exciting sound than a TV alone can. There's no separate subwoofer here – it's a compact all-in-one box.

Image

Samsung HW-S800B: was £569 now £332.49 at Amazon
This ultra-slim soundbar somehow offers incredible Dolby Atmos positional sound – it's up there with the high-end stuff – yet it takes up about a quarter of the volume of the Sonos Arc. Its minimalist design will make it a much more popular option than the Arc for a lot of living rooms, and it deserves to be popular, as our full Samsung HW-S800B review says. And this is the cheapest it's ever been – as long as your TV is 55 inches or up, and you don't need an HDMI passthrough port, this is a fantastic deal.

Image

Bose Smart Soundbar 600: was £499 now £399 at Amazon
In our guide to the best Dolby Atmos soundbars, we rate this as the best small option for impressive Atmos dynamic sound – and at 25% off, it's even better. You can read more about why we love it in our full Bose Smart Soundbar 600 review, but basically: it's Bose's usual attention to sound quality, in a smaller and more compact space, with no major compromises. Perfect!

Image

Samsung HW-Q990B: was £1,299 now £849 at Amazon
In our best soundbars guide, we rate this as the best option for creating a totally immersive Dolby Atmos bubble of sound. Nothing does it better, thanks to 16 channels in total – its truly like a full home cinema from four boxes, as our Samsung HW-Q990B review explains. And this is basically the cheapest it's ever been (we've seen it for about £30 less in the past). What a deal.

Image

Sony HT-A3000: was £599 now £499 at Amazon
The goal of this soundbar is to basically be a smaller, cheaper Sonos Arc – so you get Dolby Atmos sound from a single bar with no subwoofer, but that that still has good bass. It has 3.1 channels, but uses virtualization to make it sound like more – and Sony is very effective at that, in our experience. We don't have a full review of this soundbar, but if you want an all-in-one bar with great clarity, Sony is always good for that. This price is the next-lowest it's been – and a 25% reduction on its regular cost.
